1) What is your background?
I grew up playing soccer all my life up until the age of 19, I stopped due to injuries that contributed to years of sedentary work at the office and becoming overweight; 2 years ago I started my journey where I lost a total of 60 LBS and found Spartan Race. I have completed around 40 races, including the Trifecta in one day, and the Ultra Beast in Hawaii.
2) Why do you use Oral IV?
I love what it has done for me, my first time using Oral IV was in Ohio where I completed 31 miles of Obstacles and no cramps so definitely gave me the confidence that I can take on any challenge and with Oral IV at my side I will succeed. Easy to carry and it works right away.
3) How do you prepare and how do you use Oral IV to help?
I do a lot of my training at the cliffs by my house, very steep climbs which in the past would make me cramp, normally it would be my calves but now I always take one Oral IV prior to my training sessions, and during my training I pour one in my water. End results; no cramps.
4) What is your favorite WOD?
Hill repeats with a Wreckbag and 10 Burpees at the top of the hill. 30 minute ARMAP
5) Favorite and least favorite exercise?
My favorite exercise is the Burpee because it’s a full body exercise, and least favorite is the squat because I don’t do a lot of it. But definitely need to do more of that.
6) Most memorable event/competition/race?
My most memorable event was the 2014 Ohio Beast, where me and my buddy Cody completed all 3 Spartan Races in one day, the cold was a challenge by itself, it was around 25 degrees all day and I had never ran more than 13 miles in my life so to have done 31 plus and about 70 obstacles was something I’m very proud of having completed.
7) Advice for newbies to Oral IV?
Use Oral IV as a great hydration tool, you still have to hydrate properly but the way I look at Oral IV is the same way as those Octane boosters you put on your car; to give you the extra boost your hydration system needs, and just knowing how much is going to help you it’s a big mental edge. Stay consistent and you will see the results.
