1) What is your background?
Born and raised in California Bay Area. I was raised on sports since I was 4, competing in skiing,
swimming, football, running, and skateboarding until 1996 when I was introduced to my first triathlon,
the Vineman. Competed in Ironman competitions until 2004 when I left the sport to pursue
Wakeboarding. Returned to triathlon in 2009 while completing my Business degree at SFSU and was
introduced to Spartan racing this year in Monterey and I am hooked. My focus and training has shifted
to Spartan and OCR racing with the OCR grinders team.
2) Why do you use Oral IV?
Oral IV has helped my body stay hydrated. It helps me with cramping and headaches caused by
muscular strain and extreme heat conditions
3) How do you prepare and how do you use Oral IV to help?
I use 1 to 2 OralIV’s before each training session and double down during really hot days. It works great
to accelerate recovery as well. I will use 2 after a long OCR course or hot triathlon such as Wildflower.
4) What is your favorite WOD?
Favorite workout is a 6 mile trail run followed by a PT 20.
PT20 is 20 laps in the pool. At one side of the pool you get out and do 25 pushups and at the other you
do 50 crunches.
5) Favorite and least favorite exercise?
My favorite exercises are anything that involves a large risk of injury.
10000 meters on the erg is my least favorite training exercise.
6) Most memorable event/competition/race
Ironman California 2000 (140.6) After completing the race my father expressed not only how proud he
was of my accomplishment but how proud my grandfather, who had recently passed away, would have
been. That moment put a lot of my training and racing into perspective and gave it meaning!
7) Advice for newbies to Oral IV?
Stay strong and focused. Look for progress not perfection and remember that pain is pleasure. If you
are looking for an edge over your competitors and a boost in your training then you need to stay
hydrated and that means having OralIV as a part of your training tools. Take one before, always have
two with you during training and racing, and take 2 for recovery.
